June 12, 2009 (WAM) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari received today H.E. Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. The meeting reviewed latest developments in Pakistan. Gargash's visit comes within the context of UAE's support for Pakistan and enhancing communication between the two countries. Meanwhile, the UAE minister toured the Shah Mansour camp which accommodates 20,000 internal displaced persons from Swat Valley. Gargash reiterated the UAE's commitment to delivering humanitarian assistance to those refugees, saying the Khalifa bin Zayed Charity Foundation is playing a critical role in this humanitarian effort.
''The operation of the Foundation signals the true expression of the white hands of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Foundation has been extending food , housing and living supplies to the refugees since several months,''he said. ''No doubt, the contribution of the Foundation by $30 million will boost its operation at Swat Valley whether by its presence on the ground or through its cooperation with international relief organisations,''he added.''Fighting extremism and terrorism requires mobilisation of efforts not only on the ground but also on the humanitarian field by efficient response to the human suffering which we are seeing now at Swat Valley,''he affirmed. ''The UAE is aware of its humanitarian role and appeal to all Arab and Muslim countries to engage in this collective responsibility out of humanitarian and Islamic ground,''he added.
