June 8, 2009 (WAM): The first European Future Energy Forum, to be held in Bilbao, Spain from 9-11 June will build on the success of its parent-event, the World Future Energy Summit and focus on the innovation, investment, policy decisions and research needed to provide solutions to one of the world's most pressing issues - sourcing and facilitating the widespread deployment of future energy. This forum has been created by Masdar, also the founders and host of the World Future Energy Summit. Masdar is Abu Dhabi's multi-faceted initiative to develop, deploy and commercialize advanced energy technologies and solutions.
"Our collective global energy challenges require global engagement. Now, more than ever, we want to work with our European counterparts to extend and align our ambitions to be a catalyst for change. We hope the Forum will bring us closer to this goal," Masdar CEO Dr. Sultan Al Jaber has said in an earlier statement. The European Future Energy Forum is expected to be the largest exchange of knowledge on the future of energy within Europe this year with over 300 participating companies, from USA to Australia, presenting products and ideas through exhibition stands and round-table sessions.
In addition to a strong renewable energy focus at the Forum , there will also be dedicated keynote sessions to Future Transport solutions and Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment in order to reflect the EU's 2020 ambitions. The European Future Energy Forum (EFEF) was born out of the success of the World Future Energy Summit which held its inaugural event on 21-23 January 2008 in Abu Dhabi. Hosted by Masdar, the World Future Energy Summit takes places at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre each year in January, with forums such as the European Future Energy Forum offering a more in-depth focus on specific world markets, policy and technical developments.
EFEF will be Europe's largest exchange of knowledge focusing on the issues, demands and future energy solutions.
