May 4, 2009 (WAM) -- The Joint Technical Committee for Vehicle Testing has recently held a meeting at the headquarters of Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat). The meeting was chaired by Colonel Ghaith Hassan Al Zuabi, the Directror General of the Department of Traffic Coordination at the Ministry of Interior, and the head of the Committee, and attended by Mr. Ahmed Ismail Abdullah Al Muqeem, Manager Vehicle Testing, in addition to the Heads of traffic departments in the Northern Emirates and their representatives. The meeting discussed the latest developments at the Shamil Vehicle Testing Centers in the Northern Emirates.

The meeting addressed several issues related to the standards and methods of vehicle testing at Shamil Centers in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, in addition to determining the opening date of the Umm Al Quwain Center. Al Muqeem presented the developments of the vehicle testing procedures at Shamil Centers in the Northern Emirates, and then he moved to the different issues on the meeting's agenda, whether for discussion or for passing related resolutions. The meeting also discussed future projects and the methods to implement them, as he stressed the importance of preparing for coordination meetings before launching these projects, such as the integrated property project and the electronic programs related to testing.

He further declared that the meeting is considered of great importance in the light of a number of obstacles which face vehicle testing centers, as such obstacles, if any, should be eliminated. In addition, certain procedures followed in different licensing fields should be studied in each emirate separately, along with the discussions of various other issues. Furthermore, the meeting attended to several recent issues which were ambiguous to a number of traffic departments. These issues were clarified and linked to laws issued previously by the Ministry of Interior. All the inquiries raised by the attendants were discussed, highlighting the importance of holding regular meetings which should not be less than four annually. The Ministry of Interior showed great cooperation as it has issued a number of resolutions which will facilitate the procedures of the testing centers and further enhance the mutual cooperation relationship between the Ministry and "Shamil" under Emarat.
