Jun. 17, 2009 (WAM) -- Darwish Al-Zarouni, Director of the Emirates Identification Authority (EIDA), received at his office here today an Ethiopian delegation, led by Abera Mengistu, Director of Ethiopia National Security Authority. During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation and sharing of experience between the two countries. They reviewed EIDA's mission, objectives and system of operation of the national ID cards and steps in the establishment of population record. Al-Zarouni, who warmly welcomed the delegation, expressed the EIDA's commitment to using modern information technology in the administration of promising national programmes to make significant contributions to the country's ongoing economic and civil development successes.

He later took the delegation one of the ID card registration centre to have first hand information about the process of issuing the card. The delegation expressed great admiration on the advanced technology being used in the process, the advanced security features of the ID card and the smooth and easy registration and ID card issuance process for both UAE nationals and expatriates.
