June 22, 2009: African civil society organizations today staretd their 2-day meeting in Tripoli, Libya as a prelude to the 13th summit of the African Union (AU) planned for July in Syrte, central Libya. The meeting to be hosted by the AU Commission, in collaboration with the Libyan National Youth Organization and the Libyan Charity, "Waatassimou", would be on the topic: "Investment in agriculture to ensure economic growth and food security." According to the organisers, the conclusions of the meeting would be presented at next AU summit, which is devoted to the setting up of the African Union Authority, expected to take over the AU Commission.
